Claudia

My name is Claudia, and I’m from Mons, Belgium. My love for languages and travel eventually led me to Louisiana. What began as a "French mission," as I like to call it, with the CODOFIL, evolved into a double mission teaching French and Spanish. Over the years, Louisiana has become home, especially with my 6-year-old son, Matteo, by my side. Our household is full of life, thanks to our three mischievous orange cats—Mike, Jack, and Mama Cat—and our spirited dog, Gray.

Inspired by a personal dream and a deep desire to celebrate Louisiana’s unique culture, I founded Butterfly Language School.

I’ve poured countless hours into this project while juggling a full-time job as a high school teacher. For years, I scribbled ideas on napkins, Post-its, and notebooks—until, finally, it all came together!
Y’all will realize that Butterfly Language School is more than a school, it is a place where diversity is honored, intellectual curiosity is nurtured, and nature is celebrated. I believe our community can grow stronger through the power of languages, open-mindedness, and boundless opportunities.
Those who know me are aware that I treat my students and teachers the way I wish to be treated—with respect and kindness.

Aldenette

My name is Aldenette. I am a native of Louisiana. I grew up in the small village of Soileau with my large extended family that spoke creole. Both of my grandparents spoke only Creole. They were proud of their heritage and culture. I left the small village to pursue a degree in French. I wanted to give homage to my grandmother who taught me how to speak Creole. I’ve been teaching French for 20 years. I am teaching my grandchildren as well because I want them to be able to understand that one language is not enough to know when living in a world with different cultures and heritages. I love meeting people of different cultures. It’s an educational experience when one meets someone of different cultures.

This is why I am connected to Butterfly Language School and I am exited to be involved in this project.
